Kelsey & Dylan

Every time I go to Steamboat Springs Colorado; I'm in awe. This particular fall wedding in Steamboat was one of my best trips ever. This wedding, in particular had just about everything a photographer could want, great views, subjects who don't mind smiling for the camera and great weather. It's a rough job but somebody's gotta do it!

The scenario was fabulous and wonderful and magical - and I had to be on top of my game. It's a lot to juggle; wedding photography - just ask any professional. It does make me wonder when I hear about the MWAC, DWAC, UWAC, FWAC (Mom, Dad, Uncle, Friend etc… With A Camera) that some folks employ to capture their day. Proper wedding photography takes timing, vision and the ability to go from being the fly on the wall, to the carnival barker in the center ring, to the discreet attendant who lets everything happen the way it should. I really do enjoy doing all of those things and when they come together like they did for Dylan and Kelsey; well - magic.

I've edited down the 1000 photos (I went a bit crazy…) to a kind of still a lot of photos at 560 or so. I have so many that I enjoy but I think I have two that are my fav's…

So I asked them to close their eyes and imagine what they were thinking and feeling in that moment when they first saw each other. It was one of those times when they both were still for a moment, then both smiled. I clicked - there is a series of them; but this one is my favorite. You kind of get the sense that they're so happy and they have the BEST secret on the planet and they've just realized… they're the only ones who know.

Kelsey and Dylan - a moment to themselesI asked them to close their eyes

And then there is this one. This is one that, when I walked into the reception area and looked about - I saw this heart and immediately made a mental note to shoot through the opening during the dance. There is something about a couple and their first dance as partners that can be so moving if you capture it right. This image in particular has a great sense about it to me - a sense of future, of history and past and definitely a sense of connection. Loved this image too:

True Love, First Dancesometimes ya find the right angle Anywho - it was a fabulous wedding. So much fun and I think an Album of THIS wedding would be a masterpiece. :)
Ciao all; happy October!
